Synopsis

[View Full Script]
Horace and June are on a road trip in Horace’s car. Horace is looking for a place to put down roots and June is trying to sell him on her street. Curious, Horace agrees to take a look but is stymied by a tollbooth at the entrance demanding $1,000,000 for a toll. Horace (who initially mistook the booth for a McDonalds and tried to order dinner) can't produce the cash. He tries first to charm his way past with a display of arguable talents (similar to what you see on talent night in a junior high summer camp) and then to earn his way past by conning the tollbooth operator into a game of "Who Wants to be A Millionaire?" After failing miserably, Horace bares his soul, confessing that although he is convinced he wants to travel this road, he is unable to get past the gate by any means of his own. To this the operator proclaims "All you had to do was ask!" A shocked Horace discovers the electronic toll readout has dropped to zero. The operator - backed up by Horace's companion June who has been trying to get his attention for the entire episode - explains that the road owner's Son traveled the road many years ago and paid the fares of everyone who asked. Hardly able to believe his good fortune, Horace prepares to re-embark on his road-trip, stopping only to take delivery of the fast food for which he asked when first pulling up to the booth.
